Finding a comfortable and well fitting shoe can be challenging. Each manufacturer uses their own lasts, and their size measurements are rarely comparable. Rather than comparing sizes (e.g., EU 38 ) we reccomend considering the inner length of the shoes in relation to your feet.
Feet are three dimensional and each foot is unique. There are several factors to consider when searching for a shoe for your personal foot type. In addition to length, important factors include the shape of the toebox and volume of the shoe.
The fit is good when your heel settles into the shoe snuggly, and when the overall feel is immediately comfortable. Your heel should not move about a lot while walking, as this often leads to toe scrunching to keep the shoes on. Your toes should feel comfortable in the toebox ( a bit of wiggle room, and not squished). A general recommendation is to leave 0.8cm - 1.2cm space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. Some people like to leave a bit more space in winter shoes.
Take care to assess the fit of your shoes indoors before going outside with them.
